Classes, Workshops, Instruction

I offer one-on-one or group instruction for photography, digital art, alternate printmaking techniques, artist trading cards and mixed media/collage. Most instruction is geared for teens and adults but it can be modified for younger children too. I can instruct from my home studio and/or on location. I have on-the-job experience with special needs children and have done art projects with special needs groups and individuals through Noble of Indiana, Outside The Box and Best Buddies of Indiana. I also present workshops and demonstrations for art clubs, libraries, schools and other groups. Dates, times and cost for instruction vary according to content and group size, email for more infomation: info@lynnemedsker.com

SPRING 2012

We are gearing up to host a very special workshop! On Friday March 2nd (6 to 8 p.m.) and again Saturday March 3rd (9:30-11:30 a.m.) Mark & I are going to host a “Create your own Metal Sculpture” workshop! It will then be prepared, welded and polished for you and available to pick up in two weeks. The size of the sculptures can be up to 11x14. Sculpture this size that we create & design cost $125. For this special workshop the cost will be only $75. Your design session will last approximately 1 hour and reservations are required. Contact us via email (info@lynnemedsker.com) or by phone (317-852-3541) to reserve your session!

    CREATE YOUR OWN CLASS!
You may request future classes & workshops, see details below:

Currently scheduling for 2012! Be sure to schedule as soon as possible to get the class/date that you want! Below is a list of topics (along with costs/time requirements) that I would be excited to share with you. I am available to present these topics at a variety of different days/times, please contact me to schedule a date! It's up to YOU what the schedule will be! Here's how it works:
Step 1 - Choose the art you'd like to create from the topics listed below
    Step 2 - Pick a date
Step 3 - Invite your friends (or open the class to the public) and we'll be ready to go!

Be sure to choose your dates early, especially if you are interested in a Saturday class, as my schedule fills up quickly with portrait photography on those days. For most sessions at my studio there is a minimum of 2/maximum of 6 participants per session, unless otherwise noted. If you would like me to present a session at your location I require a minimum of 4 participants. Once you've reserved your date you can request a private class or I will publish the information on my blog and open it up to others that might be interested in joining the class. Topics to choose from:

Acrylic/Watercolor on Paper - Create a fun and colorful abstract work combining acrylic & watercolor paints of paper! Cost per person, including all supplies, $45. 3-4 hours per session.

Three-piece Mixed Media Collage - Let your creativity flow across three square wood panels as you layer decorative papers, beads, strings, found objects & paint to create your own unique art. Cost per person, including all supplies, $65. Approximately 3 hours per session.

Gelatin prints - Create printmaking projects using gelatin as a printing plate. This is a fun way to explore printmaking without having to use a press. The plate is basically just a 1/4 to 1/2" deep slab of thick gelatin. Visit the printmaking section of this site to view other sample images of gelatin prints or visit this link to see a step-by-step process post on my blog. Cost per person, including all supplies, $45. 3-4 hours per session.

Mandala Art - Loosely translated mandala means "circle." These repetitive patterns are found in nature (biology, geology, chemistry, physics and astronomy). Many different cultures and religions use the mandala form as a spiritual symbol and creating mandalas is also used as a form of art therapy. Making a mandala is a very soothing process that can be enjoyed by anyone. Again, here are some blog posts/sample images for you to look at: Mandala Art and More Mandalas (and an endorsement!) Cost per person, including all supplies and a mat for framing your favorite piece, $25. Approximately 2 hours. Minimum of 4/maximum of 8 participants for the mandala class.

Mixed media on illustration board - These projects can be done as abstract art, landscapes or other styles as each participant wants. It's fun to peel away and add to the composition until you are happy with it. See a step-by-step demo HERE! Cost per person, including all supplies, $65. Allow 5-6 hours.

Mixed media wall sculptures - I love making these! Using a variety of materials, including wood, metal & paint, you can incorporate anything into them and just let your imagination run wild. View samples here: Mixed Media Wall Sculpture and Sample work from previous workshop Cost per person $95. Allow 6-8 hours (can be divided into two sessions).
